Dr. Richard Lewis, Obstetric & Gynecologic Physician to Join Wayne Memorial
Jesup - Wayne Memorial Hospital announced today that Richard Lewis, D.O., will be moving to Wayne County and starting a new practice, Peachtree Obstetrics & Gynecology. Dr. Lewis hopes to begin seeing patients around November 16th in the office building he will share with Dr. Jeffrey Harris.
Dr. Lewis received his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry, School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, New Jersey. He completed his internship at Kennedy Memorial Hospitals, University Medical Center, where he was appointed Chief Intern. Dr. Lewis completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Dr. Lewis has served as a faculty member for the OB-GYN Residency Program at Monmouth Medical Center and has lectured for residents and medical students from numerous college and universities. Dr. Lewis is a flight surgeon in the United States Air Force Reserve Medical Corp and was most recently attached to the 624th Aeromedical Staging Squadron at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii. Dr. Lewis, who holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, has deployed overseas in service to the United States on several occasions since 2002. He has received numerous military decorations (ribbons, medals and citations) for his dedication and service.

Dr. Lewis is married to Wende Somers Lewis and between them they have four adult children. Wende’s family has deep roots throughout the South. In his spare time, Dr. Lewis enjoys surfing, singing and tinkering around the house.
