Bonny Hendrix, PharmD, is the new Director of Pharmacy for Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Hendrix Takes Director of Pharmacy Position at WMH

Jesup – Wayne Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce former staff pharmacist Bonny Hendrix, PharmD, has been promoted to Director of Pharmacy for the facility.

Hendrix will be working with physicians on instituting new medications, equipment and protocols (routine patient treatments) in order to streamline services and find more effective ways to assist WMH patients. She will be responsible for updating policies and procedures of the department as well as directing the day-to-day activities of the pharmacy. In her new title, she will oversee three staff pharmacists and six pharmacy technicians. “I see this opportunity as a learning experience and I look forward to the challenge of working with the other department managers and directors on staff,” said Hendrix.

“Bonny has been a dedicated employee to the hospital for three years. She shows a true interest in her work and is well aware of the overall operations of the pharmacy,” said Director of Human Resources John McIlwain. “We know Bonny will continue to be a wonderful asset in her new role. It is satisfying to promote a worthy employee to a leadership position when we have the chance,” he added.

Hendrix graduated with a Doctorate of Pharmacy Degree from the University of Georgia in 2006. She enjoys the hospital setting for the opportunities it brings her. “I like knowing more about my patients. In the hospital setting, I can make suggestions about medications and treatment options and therefore work closer with physicians and other health care professionals to improve patient outcomes,” says Hendrix. “I get to be part of a team that watches a patient’s daily progress whereas in a retail pharmacy, I would not always get to see the process so closely.”

Hendrix, who is originally from Wayne County, is the former Bonny Dukes. She is married to Michael Hendrix of Jesup and together they have two sons; Noah (19 months) and a newborn, Lucas. In her spare time, Hendrix enjoys playing the piano, going to the beach and especially, spending time with her family.
